as well as the increase in the number of affiliated higher studies students, it was announced as an independent Department in April 2015, and its organizational chart was defined in the newly established Faculty of Advanced Technology
Currently, the Department of Medical Biotechnology is one of the three departments of the Faculty of Advanced Technologies of the University, and since its establishment, it has been teaching master's and PhD students in medical biotechnology and students of other departments of the Faculty of Advanced Technologies (tissue engineering and molecular medicine) and university (medical faculty).
The Department of Medical Biotechnology won the title of the best department of the University in 2016.
Medical biotechnology master's degree students pass an average of 25 theoretical and practical courses in the educational phase. In the first semester, 12 courses consisting of 9 theoretical courses and 3 practical courses, in the second semester 13 courses consisting of 9 practical courses and 4 theoretical courses and 10 thesis courses are presented.
Also, PhD students take a total of 29 courses in three educational semesters. In the first semester, 10 courses consisting of 9 theoretical courses and 1 practical course, in the second semester, 9 courses consisting of 4.5 practical courses and 4.5 theoretical courses, in the third semester, 10 courses consisting of 4 practical courses, 5 theoretical courses, 1 internship course, finally the thesis course (28 courses for admitted students in 2016 and 21 courses for subsequently admitted students).
Master's students start their dissertation after completing the educational phase with the approval of the proposal, and PhD students enter the research phase of their study period after taking a comprehensive exam and obtaining a passing grade. During the preparation of the thesis, students can participate in research projects and other programs of the Department with the consent of the supervisor.
Given the potential and Available facilities in the University of in terms of academic staff and laboratory spaces, there is a good potential for the development of this field in the University. In recent years, this Department, with the cooperation of respected university and faculty officials, has taken steps to establish and launch the field of medical nanotechnology for the enrichment of the Department and more scientific works.
In order to launch the field of medical nanotechnology, a development document was procured. In the development document of 2021 for the 7th region of this discipline, all the needs of the faculty and equipment needed in the curriculum were prepared, and after the visit and approval of the board, the admission of master's students took place in September 1401 for the Department.
Perspective:
In the coming years, the biotechnology of Iran will be pioneering among the countries of the region, and the indicators of the production of research and applied science and technology, will grow by 10% annually.
It is hoped that with the growth of this field, the use of biotechnology in the pharmaceutical and biological sectors, wealth generation and saving in foreign exchange, improving the quality of the educational program and achieving global standards in the education of advanced technologies in the field of biotechnology and the efficacious collaboration of students with research activities be realized in a desirable way.
Vision:
1) Meeting skilled manpower needs in the field of biotechnology for research centers.
2) Providing the required manpower for the production sector
3) The logical expansion of this technology in the country, which can be a basis for the expansion of modern sciences.
Research priorities:
1) Application of advanced techniques and methods for early diagnosis of diseases
2) Investigating the anti-drug resistance effects of natural compounds in cancer
3) Investigating the antioxidant and antigenotoxic effects of natural products
4) Designing and developing molecular and biological diagnostic and treatment methods for diseases
5) New methods of drug delivery, gene therapy and cell therapy
6) Systems biology studies with the aim of better understanding the processes related to pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of diseases
7) Production, evaluation and formulation of recombinant and biological products
8) Application of nanotechnology in biological sciences and biomedicine
9) Bioinformatics studies to analyze gene expression
10) Docking, molecular cloning and vaccine design
11) Genetic manipulation of living organisms to remove metal pollutants

Facilities: 
 Equipment and teaching space available for the Department in the Faculty of Advanced Technologies and the University .
 
7 HDMI computers, 4 computer systems, 6 three-function printers, scanners, copiers, 4 laptops, complete office equipment (such as desks and chairs, stamps, punches, staplers, glue stands and automatic stands, telephones, multi-way electricity, closet, headphones, etc.) for each faculty member.
High-speed Internet, access to the library and modern scientific resources, whiteboard (5 pcs), video projector (5 pcs), screen (5 pcs), archive of educational contents of the Department (educational CDs), separate room for the head of the Department, The Department’s faculty members room (two professors in one room), 3 independent classrooms equipped with video projectors, screen and whiteboard.
